It's the way they do things around here and it's all legit, so who am I to question it? After that we went through passport control and customs and got back on the bus. It took another 3 hours of driving at 110mph before we reached the port. Not much to report there, met a lovely guy called Eric who told us everything we needed to know about Belize's buses and what to expect on Caye Caulker.
Met a not so lovely guy at the port too, that experience and having my phone taken really drum it into you how safe you need to be when you're travelling and to always have your wits about you.
The ferry ride was about an hour (I wouldn't know seeing as I slept the whole way) and then we landed on the island. We dumped our bags at the hotel, grabbed our dirty washing and headed out to the laundrette and for some lunch. It was happy hour when we got to the restaurant (it always seems to be happy hour in all these places!) so of course more cocktails were bought.
We hung out at the bar for a bit and then booked to go on a snorkelling trip tomorrow, they said we'll get the chance to see and swim with nurse sharks, fish, turtles and manatees! I'm so excited for the turtles and manatees. We went back to the hotel, had a shower and got ready to go back out. We went to a sports bar on the beach, well they had a band playing Lynrd Skynrd's Free Bird, so naturally I went straight into that bar! FYI the guy nailed thee guitar solo. From there we met back up with the rest of our group, got some street food and headed to Reggae Bar, which is conveniently located right opposite the hotel (oh god).
Rolled in from there at about 1 and stuffed my face with Pringles...
Nom XOXO
Also I found a Starbucks, soooo happy for that, I'm missing my daily double espressos and macchiatos.
