22 August: From Rio Dulce to Antigua

Sadly we had to leave our little treehouse with all its spiders and the swaying at night that gave me slight motion sickness. When telling the owner of Tortugal that we were heading to Antigua next she said "good luck with that", instills so much confidence doesn't it? (FYI there was nothing to worry about). It was about a four hour drive across most of Guatemala to get to Antigua , we stopped a couple of times for banjos and food breaks, once we hit Guatemala City there was a bit of traffic by it was interesting to see the capital and to feel like I was back in a city. (I do miss London quite a bit, Barnet hmmm a tad... Haha).

When we arrived in Antigua, I quickly decided that it is one of my favourite places we've been, the cobbled streets that leave you getting thrown about in the bus leave a lot to be desired, especially as I was sleeping when we got here but I'll let that slide. Our hotel here is by far one of the nicest and I'm so glad we're coming back in a few days.

We spent the afternoon just looking around the town and at the markets, we tried to hold back on buying too much as we'd be going Chichicastenango market the day after next and hopefully it'll be a lot cheaper, but I still bought a few bits including a fancy pipe which I cannot play and sounds nothing like the demonstration the boy gave me when he sold it to me.

My kind of tree

I'm going to quit my job and work in this wine shop/bar

XOXO
